Hysteria2 Configs in V2Duo, Full Support Including Salamander
Hysteria2 runs over UDP and stays fast on unstable networks. V2Duo runs it next to VLESS and your other configs.
Hysteria2 is a protocol that runs over QUIC and UDP instead of TCP. It shines on networks that lose many packets or have high delay, where TCP-based protocols slow down. V2Duo uses the Xray core, which supports Hysteria2 in its recent versions. So you can import Hysteria2 configs like any other and even run them next to your VLESS configs.
Importing a Hysteria2 config
Hysteria2 links usually look like this:
hysteria2://[email protected]:443/?sni=server.example.com&obfs=salamander&obfs-password=XXXX#Name
V2Duo understands both hysteria2:// and hy2://. Hysteria2 entries in Clash and sing-box files are imported too. See the import guide for all the ways.
Which settings are supported?
| Setting in the link | In V2Duo |
|---|---|
password (auth), as pass or user:pass | supported |
sni | supported |
obfs=salamander and obfs-password | supported |
insecure=1 (self-signed certificate) | supported; the certificate is pinned |
pinSHA256 | supported |
several ports (port hopping), like 443,20000-30000 | only the first port is used |
| any obfs other than Salamander | not supported |
Self-signed certificates
Many Hysteria2 servers have no valid certificate and their links say insecure=1. In that case V2Duo opens a QUIC connection to the server when you import the config, reads its certificate and pins it. Only that server is trusted, not anyone pretending to be it.
One exception: if a config has both insecure=1 and Salamander obfs, the certificate cannot be read without the obfs key. Ask your seller to add pinSHA256 to the link.
Hysteria2 and combined connections
Hysteria2 works with combined connections. V2Duo builds a separate QUIC connection to the server for each of your links, and each one's traffic goes out over that link.
Hysteria2 or VLESS Reality?
Each has its place:
- Hysteria2 is often faster on unstable mobile networks and links with heavy packet loss.
- VLESS Reality is more reliable on networks that restrict UDP and looks like ordinary web traffic.
The best approach is to run one of each together. With several configs at once and health checks, V2Duo uses whichever works better on each link.
A technical note on QUIC in browsers
While connected through configs, V2Duo blocks apps' own QUIC (for example HTTP/3 in Chrome) so the browser falls back to TCP, which spreads better across your links. This has nothing to do with Hysteria2 configs; V2Duo's own Hysteria2 connection to the server is exempt.
Frequently asked questions
Is TUIC supported?
No. The Xray core does not include TUIC. V2Duo says so clearly when you import one.
Why does a Hysteria2 config sometimes fail ping but still work?
Ping goes through that config with an HTTPS request. If the first QUIC connection takes a moment, the first ping can fail. Ping again.
When will port hopping be supported?
The current version of V2Duo uses only the first port. Hysteria2 servers listen on their main port too, so most configs work fine.
