Feature
V2Duo Connection Modes, Max Speed, Priority and Backup
Choose how your links work together: all at once for top speed, one main link with helpers, or one link with the others kept for emergencies.
Not everyone wants to use all of their links equally. Maybe your mobile plan is limited and you only want it when Wi-Fi fails. Or the opposite: you want every bit of speed and data is not an issue. That is why V2Duo has three connection modes, which you choose under Settings, Connection mode.
Max speed
All links work together all the time, and connections are spread between them according to each link's share. This is the fastest mode.
Good for: heavy downloads, video, and whenever data volume does not matter.
Tip: get the shares right. The Measure & balance button on the home screen measures each link alone and sets the shares for you. More in the guide to combining connections.
Priority
The first link (the one higher in the list) carries most of the traffic and the others help. In practice, three out of every four new connections go over the first link and one over the second.
Good for: when you have one good main link, like home Wi-Fi, and want the second link to help a little while using less data.
Change the order of your links in Settings with the up and down arrows. Number one is the main link.
Backup
Only the first link is used. If it fails, connections move to the second link by themselves. When the first link is back, everything returns to it.
Good for: work and online meetings, when stability matters more than speed. Or when mobile data is expensive and you keep it for emergencies.
Quick comparison
| Max speed | Priority | Backup | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Use of the second link | always, by share | low (about a quarter) | only if the first fails |
| Download speed | highest | medium | one link's speed |
| Mobile data use | high | low | almost none |
| Ping stability | medium | good | best |
When a link drops
In every mode, if one of your links drops, V2Duo notices and sends new connections over the healthy ones. Connections that were on the dropped link at that moment have to be made again; browsers and most apps do this on their own.
If you have only one link, the home screen tells you there is nothing to combine. V2Duo still works with one link, and you still get several configs at once and DNS mode.
Switching modes without disconnecting
You can change the mode while connected. The change applies a few seconds later and you do not need to disconnect.
Frequently asked questions
Which mode is best for a weak connection?
If one of your links keeps dropping, Max speed or Priority is better, because connections are always spread over both and losing one is less noticeable.
How long does Backup mode take to switch?
If the first link disappears completely, for example Wi-Fi turns off, the switch is almost instant. If the network stays connected but its internet stops working, the health checks catch it, which can take up to about two minutes.
Does the mode change how much config data I use?
No. Config data depends on how much you download, not on the mode.
